Charcuterie Board Basics
Charcuterie Boards have a great variety and allow much freedom of expression. There does need to be a certain amount of order however. What are the basic com[onents? Deciding what groups of foods you will display on your board. Meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, dried fruit, fresh veggies, nuts, olives, and what sauces or jams you’d like to include.
What you need:
Meat
Dried meats such as prosciutto salami you could use smoked salmon.
Cheese
hard, soft and semi soft
Fresh fruit
Berries, such as blackberry, Raspberry, Strawberry, Grapes. even orange slices can work.
Other components
olives, nuts, plain, seasoned or even candied. Chocolate can be a desired addition.

Evaluate the food interests off your guests. are they big veggie eaters? Included can be, cherry tomatoes, broccoli florets, cauliflower, carrots, celery.
Crackers an assortment is nice, but stick to 2 maybe 3 varieties.
Sauces
Determine what you want your guests to use them for. Peppered or seasoned jellies can be a great addition with brie, creamy sauces can be a nice dip for fresh veggies or even crackers.
Board logic
Assembling your board doesn’t need to be complicated, it does. however need a certain flow. The first step is to determine where you want your sauces to be. From there, what will your sauces be used for, place the items near by. Find little pocket areas to put foods that might travel, nuts, tomatoes, berries in order to keep them in place. Placing olives in a dish keeps other foods dry. I enjoy using a variety of foods that bring color and texture. Some get real creative and make kiwi flowers, salami flowers, etc, make it your own and have fun with it. Careful not to sprinkle little foods all over, can make it seem messy and jumbled.
